Dream Theater's new album is probably one of my most anticipated records of 2019. The band is forgoing their conceptual aspects and lighter music in favor of sheer heaviness and, who knows, maybe even an eight string guitar. Which is great news considering it didn't seem like a ton of fans were on board with The Astonishing, myself included.
Now in an interview with Metal Wani, keyboardist Jordan Rudess says the record will be out in February and that the band is currently mixing the effort right now.
"Right now, we're mixing it. It's being mixed as we speak. It sounds awesome. I'm so excited about it. There's a very, very strong energy around the band these days. We all feel very connected and excited about what's coming. We can't wait to unleash the whole thing on everybody. And that's all gonna happen really, really soon as well; it's just right around the corner."
Here's hoping we get a single around December. Seriously, I think we all need some seriously Awake/Train Of Thought-level heaviness from Dream Theater in our lives.
