Nine Inch Nails released three EPs (or albums) between 2016 and 2018, as well as eight film soundtracks between 2016 and 2019. So yeah – Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross are really busy these days and they're not looking for a rest. The duo tell Variety that once they're wrapped up with their current tour, they'll have six weeks off where they might start working on "the next Nine Inch Nails project."
Reznor doesn't specify what the project is, but when does he ever?
“Once we get a significant amount of scoring things out of us right now, we know what the next Nine Inch Nails project is going to be. In six weeks we’re going to have a few weeks off. Maybe we could start on it there, or we may not, but it’s nice to be looking forward to that thing and subconsciously know that it’s coming up and you’re putting things in that bucket… ideas to try when it comes up. We’re just trying to make the best music possible in whatever format that might be.”
Nine Inch Nails is full of surprises lately, especially with their live sets. So I think it's safe to say that we're all pretty eagerly awaiting what this new project is!
